CheckoutFor some
reason, many young bootleggers are scared off by the apparent complexity of
making gin. But in vain! After spending a little more time on making, you will
get a wonderful drink with a centuries-old history.
Of course,
there are a huge number of ways to make gin. Moreover, every self-respecting
manufacturer will keep production secrets. But we have selected three methods
that are perfect for both novice distillers and more experienced colleagues.
The first
method is tincture. The actions are extremely simple – pour the prepared
mixture into the double-distilled moonshine, together with juniper berries and
let it stand for a week or two, strain and consume.
This method
is perfect for those who do not have an aroma node, or for some reason they do
not want to use it. However, it should be understood that this is not a real
genie. There will be a strong distortion of taste, which is unlikely to give
you pleasure from eating.
But do not
rush to abandon this recipe – it is enough to overtake this tincture as a
macerate and believe me, the result will not disappoint you.
The second
method, on the contrary, involves distilling the distillate through the aroma
node. This method is already more complicated – it is necessary to fill the
prepared mixture with berries into the genie basket (aroma node, aroma nozzle,
collapsible dry-pot) and distill the distillate. The couples will be saturated
with the aroma of the mixture, and we will get a very fragrant genie.
The third
method is combined. First, an infusion is made as in the first method with the
only difference: juniper berries are laid not in the tincture, but in the genie
basket immediately before distilling the macerate.
As you can
see, the process of making gin does not represent anything complicated.
Although there are a few rules that will significantly improve the quality of
your drink:
- Use only
double distillate.
- The
preparation of gin on raw alcohol is unacceptable, otherwise, there will be too
many extraneous shades in the drink.
- Do not
forget that when distilling macerates, you need to select about 1% of the
heads. This will help to avoid danger, improve the taste and quality of the
drink.
- Grain
distillates are best suited.
If you
decide to make a mixture for gin yourself, be sure to pay close attention to
juniper berries. The fact is that there are a huge number of varieties of
juniper, the fruits of which are poisonous to our body.
